Publication Day: Crimson is here!

It's here it's here! Monstrous Regiment Magazine’s first issue Crimson is the first instalment of a new feminist literary mag featuring fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual arts led by largely Scotland-based creatives. You can get it from our webshop now.

We had a great time working on the design and curating the content of it -- and our Head Designer Hannah Killoh definitely played a huge part in capturing our vision. Each issue of the magazine is going to be themed around a certain colour, and all submissions are inspired in some way by the connotations that that colour might evoke or represent. Thus, the content of the Crimson issue explores things inspired by the colour read and discusses everything from body image to grief, from speculative fiction to red photography film, and from misremembering to revenge porn and homophobia.

We're really passionate about creating a community around our publications, so Crimson will officially launch on 2nd August 2018 at Lighthouse Bookshop (8pm) -- a night of creative readings, chat and refreshments. You can check out the launch event and reserve tickets by clicking here.

We're hoping the magazine will become even better going forward. Following a very popular poll online, it's been decided that issue two will be Emerald-themed! We were floored to see how much the people love green. Submissions for Emerald will open in mid-July so keep an eye on our submissions page to find out how you can get involved.
